A Boy Called Christmas, based on Matt Haig’s novel, starts filming in London

A Boy Called Christmas is in production now, ahead of a release at the end of the year.

It’s been confirmed that the feature adaptation of A Boy Called Christmas, based on the novel by Matt Haig, is heading to cinemas this coming Christmas.

Filming has just begun on the movie, and production will cover the UK, the Czech Republic and Lapland. In the cast are now confirmed Dame Maggie Smith, Jim Broadbent, Kirsten Wiig, Sally Hawkins, Michel Huisman and Toby Jones. The UK leg of the filming is taking place in and around the London area.

StudioCanal and Blueprint Pictures are backing the production, which is being directed by Gil Kenan. He co-wrote the script with Ol Parker.

The movie is set to land in cinemas in December. It follows the story of a young boy called Nikolas, born on December 25th, who goes off on a quest to find his father.
