The fourth Ghostbusters film will be called Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Filming is wrapped up on the next movie in the Ghostbusters franchise, that’s seeing Jason Reitman step into his dad’s shoes – Ivan having helmed the first two films – as director.

It’s set to be a direct sequel to Ghostbusters 2, and as such the cast will see Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts return for a start, with Paul Rudd leading the new recruits.

No official title has been announced as of yet for the film, but we’d heard a rumour previously that when the film was being developed within Sony, one of the working titles for it was Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Now, a report over at BadTaste in Italy is echoing that title, and it says too that it’s own sources are saying the same thing.

Furthermore, even though there hasn’t been an official announcement, the first trailer for the movie has now been classified by the BBFC. And guess what it’s called? Yep, Ghostbusters: Afterlife. That’s signed and sealed, then.

The trailer, interestingly, is rated 12A. That’s likely the target rating of the film too, of course.  Expect the 2 minute 28 second trailer to be released this side of Christmas.

The film is set for release in July 2020.
