Our movie podcast recommendation of the week returns, and we’re very much in sequel territory this time around.
Not all sequels are created equal. In fact, most definitely aren’t. Like this feature though (ahem), they are almost always hotly anticipated, especially for big budget franchises. Putting you on the spot, could you name your best sequel, worst sequel and dream sequel right now?

Unequal Sequel, created and hosted by university friends Dave Curtis and Rich Wiltshire, seamlessly blends reviews and interviews with incredible guests, but rather bizarrely Unequal Sequel was born somewhat by David Hasselhoff and slow motion shots of beautiful people running down beaches.
This is because Dave and Rich’s first venture into podcasting together was a Baywatch podcast. Although The Baywatched Podcast is currently on a hiatus due to the mammoth task of watching every single episode of Baywatch, Unequal Sequel was devised as a project they could both enjoy equally, but with a really simple and fresh concept of Best Sequel, Worst Sequel and Dream Sequel.
Unequal Sequel is the rare movie podcast that really highlights and focuses on its guests, of which there have been some big names, including Empire magazine’s Helen O’Hara and comedian Seann Walsh. The idea that sequels can evoke some real and strong emotion, whether that’s positive or negative, is the reason that sequels seem to keep coming back for more. This is clearly a passion project for Dave and Rich, who are fun and engaging hosts, who fully allow their guests to shine. They also supplement their feed with regular bonus review episodes. Basically, there’s something for everyone here; if you like interviews, you’ll love it. If you like reviews of the latest movies, you’ll love it.
We did ask them what their best, worst and dream sequels would be, but it seems like they’re saving that for a potential future episode of Unequal Sequel. Consummate professionals to the very end!
