How many different copies of the same film do you own?

Lots of us end up buying multiple versions of the same film – and we want to know how many you’ve got.

You might have already caught the news, but next year, the Back To The Future trilogy is getting a fresh re-release for the 35th anniversary of the original film. Part and parcel of that will be an Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray collection, and it got me thinking. Because in the case of Back To The Future Part II, I started tallying up how many copies of that film I’ve bought over the years.

I reckon I’ve picked up:

  • Ex-rental VHS
  • Retail VHS
  • The original DVD
  • The Blu-ray
  • The second Blu-ray set
  • And inevitably, the 4K set.

But then, I thought to my favourite film, the Kevin Costner-headlined Field Of Dreams. And the tally runs to:

  • Ex-rental VHS
  • VHS
  • DVD
  • The DVD with the excellent behind the scenes documentary
  • The HD DVD
  • The Blu-ray
  • The 4K

Seven copies. Yikes. But then, I asked on the Film Stories Twitter account: could anyone beat that. With photographic evidence. Turns out I’m an amateur.

Here then, folks, is your current leader. Can anyone beat our current top two. In second place, with 10 different copies of An American Werewolf In London

And in first place: er, it’s Bad Boys

Over to you, folks. Remember: you can’t be a business, and we need photographic evidence! Tweet us (@filmstoriespod) or leave your claim in the comments below…
