Tom Hanks’ latest Oscar-nominated role in A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood is finally heading for a UK home release.

Well, here’s a film that might be useful right about now. The Oscar-nominated A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood is a movie with kindness at its core, telling the story of how American television legend Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod formed an unlikely friendship.

Directed by Marielle Heller, the film isn’t one, sadly, to get a fast-tracked home release in the light of the current cinema shutdown. But at the very least, we now learn that the movie is due on UK video on demand services from May 25th.

Furthermore, a DVD and Blu-ray from June 8th, although we won’t be getting the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release that’s available in the UK.

Both disc versions will get the following extras though:

  • Over 15 Minutes of Additional Scenes
  • Blooper Reel
  • Tom Hanks as Fred Rogers
  • The People Who Make a Neighbourhood: The Making Of
  • Dreaming Big, Building Small: The Puppets & Miniatures
  • Daniel Tiger Explains: Practice Makes Perfect
  • Filmmaker Commentary

The film is up for preorder here.
