A sequel to disaster film Greenland is in the works, with the cast and creative team all set to return.

Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin have both signed up to reprise their roles from last years surprise hit Greenland in a sequel, currently in development with the same creative team from the first film. Ric Roman Waugh is back to direct, continuing his streak of successful collaborations with Butler including next years Kandahar.

Greenland saw Butler and Baccarin as an estranged couple, struggling to find safety with their young son during an oncoming global apocalypse as they experienced the best and worst in humanity.

The sequel (and stop reading if you don’t want the first film ruined!) will see the pair leave their safe bunker to travel across a barren Europe in the hope of finding a new home in the post apocalypse world.

Greenland debuted at number one in box offices across the world last year, despite local lockdowns and topped many VOD lists, making modest returns on a $35 million budget.

Greenland: Migration is set to start filming in 2022.
