The behind the scenes story of the craft from the first two Star Wars films is being explored in a new video series – more details here.

A little while ago now, in a pre-pandemic galaxy of possibility that seems far, far away, I had a chat with Star Wars buff David Whiteley about his documentaries The Galaxy Britain Built and Toy Empire. You can still read that here on the Film Stories website.

Now Whiteley is readying his next Star Wars story, and this one is being prepared for his own YouTube channel.

In the latest episode of his Star Wars Xtra vlog, Whiteley introduces some clips from Building Boba Fett, the behind the scenes story of the craftspeople at Elstree Precision who built several key Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back props and costume pieces.

That’s just a teasing little snippet for now but the story is bound to be an interesting one when Whiteley rolls it all out, and there’s no doubt that we Film Stories folk love to see the spotlight on the less-heralded, always-crucial crew members who actually make the movies magic.

More as we hear it.
