Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler are set for Murder Mystery 2 – and quite the ensemble cast is coming together for the sequel.

The comedy movies that Adam Sandler has generated off the back of his exclusive Netflix deal have not, we’d politely suggest, been his finest work. Appreciating that the dramatic projects – Uncut Gems, we’re looking at you – have been far, far better, the comedies have been on the testing side.

If there’s one that’s been okay, we’d suggest that Murder Mystery – co-starring Jennifer Aniston – is the one to pick. Even then, its thunder has been well and truly stolen by the much, much better Knives Out. Still, it’s worth a watch.

Like all of Sandler’s Netflix comedies, Murder Mystery drew in copious numbers of highly entertained no doubt eyeballs. And there’d been hints around the time it came out that another chapter might be in the offing.

That has proven to be the case. Both Sandler and Aniston are now back for Murder Mystery 2. Furthermore, an impressive supporting cast is being recruited too, with Jodie Turner-Smith, Adeel Akhtar, John Kani, Melanie Laurent and Mark Strong all signing up for the new whodunnit.

Jeremy Garelick is directing this time around, and James Vanderbilt has come back to do scripting duties. The plan is to shoot the film in the Caribbean and France later this year. Don’t be surprised if it’s ready for the end of the year, but a release date as of yet has not been confirmed.
