Addams Family 2 is already being planned

A sequel to the new animated The Addams Family film has already been confirmed.

The reviews were hardly ecstatic, but the new animated take on The Addams Family nonetheless brought home the cash at the US box office over the weekend. The film cost in the region of $40m to make, and its opening weekend haul came in at $35m. The film opens in the UK next week.

But already, the box office take has been enough to persuade MGM and United Artists Releasing to press ahead with a sequel. In fact, it’s not just greenlit the next film, it’s given it a release date too.

Addams Family 2, which it probably won’t be called, is set to land in cinemas on October 22nd 2021.

Expect the voice cast, led by Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz, Oscar Isaac and Nick Kroll to all return. No word yet if directors Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon will also be back, but presumably the offer is there for them if they want the job.

More as we hear it.
