The anime classic Akira is getting a cinema re-release in the UK, with over 200 screens set to show the groundbreaking movie.

Just because major studios appear to be shifting blockbusters into next year, that doesn’t mean that other distributors are abandoning the big screen. In particular, Manga Entertainment in the UK has announced that it’s bringing the flat-out classic Akira back to the big screen,.

It’s been remastered in 4K, and the firm has announced that it’ll be playing on over 200 screens around the UK and Ireland. The release lasts for three days, 7th to the 9th of October, and tickets are on sale now for the film.

There’s a posh new trailer too…

You can find out more and book tickets at akira4k.co.uk. There’s no word yet as to whether a 4K disc release will follow, but fingers crossed.
