Alfred Hitchcock films being lined up for 4K release

It looks like Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, Vertigo, Psycho and Rear Window are all heading for a 4K reissue this coming autumn.

A listing has popped up over at a French Ultra HD site, which suggests we’re getting a quartet of Alfred Hitchcock films this autumn with in the Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray format.

Universal looks set to release a collection that includes Psycho, The Birds, Rear Window and Vertigo on the format, and according to the French listing, they’ll be gathered together in one box. We suspect individual versions will be available too, in due course.

The set is currently listed in France for release this coming September, although no formal announcement about it has thus far been made by Universal (the company set to be releasing it).

UPDATE: This set is now coming to the UK, and a listing for it has popped up at Amazon. It’s going on sale from 7th September, and you can find it – and what few details there are at the moment – right here.

Here’s the box art…

Psycho is also getting a standalone release on the same day. The listing for that is here.

More as we hear it.
