Easy A star Aly Michalka confirms the rumoured sequel might still happen, but maybe not as you expected.

Aly Michalka has reignited rumours of a potential Easy A sequel in an interview with E! News this weekend.

Stating that the rumours were ‘semi-true’ but that the film would act as more of a spin-off than sequel.

Talking to the news site, Michalka said ‘It would be kind of like a new retelling but you’d see some of the characters from the original come back into the story.’ She herself would be eager to return to the story, but it seems unlikely original stars Emma Stone and Penn Badgley would return. Instead, the film would focus on a set of new teenagers at the same school.

According to a report from Variety in 2019, Easy A screenwriter Bert Royal was to return and pen the script, however little else has been said about the project since then.

Easy A was a surprise hit and continues to please audiences 11 years after it’s release. Would you watch a sequel without Stone’s Olive as the lead?

Easy A is currently available on physical media, as well as available to stream on NetflixUK.
