Dan Trachtenberg’s new addition to the Predator series starts to take shape, as casting gets underway.

We’ve known for a while that the next film in the Predator series is due to begin shooting shortly, with original reports back in February stating that filming was set to begin in the Calgary wilderness sometime in May.

We also know the film is taking a back-to-basics approach to summon the survivalist slasher spirit of the beloved 1987 original, with the plot set to follow ‘a character named Kee and her younger brother Taabe. Kee is described as a tomboy, who fights against gender norms to prove that she can be just as strong as any male Comanche warrior.’

Now, we know who will play Kee, with reports surfacing that Amber Midthunder, who can currently be seen starring alongside Liam Neeson in The Ice Road, will be taking on the role. Not a lot else is known about Dan Trachtenberg’s reimagining of the franchise at the moment, but after the nadir in the series that was 2018’s The Predator, we’d argue that revisiting the series’ roots to rediscover what makes it so cherished by fans is not a bad idea at all.

As shooting is imminent, we’d expect to hear more news soon, so you can be assured we’ll keep you posted.
