God’s Own Country director Francis Lee has completed his second movie, and the first poster for Ammonite has now landed.

Production was officially underway on the second film from director Francis Lee back in March 2019 and wrapped in the middle of last year. Lee sprung to prominence off the back of his excellent debut, God’s Own Country (pictured), and he’s penned the screenplay for his sophomore movie too, that’s going by the name of Ammonite.

Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan take the lead roles, in a film set in the early 19th century. It tells the story of a fossil hunter who uncovers a notable find around the cliffs of Dorset.

There’s no word yet on a UK release date, short of that the movie is due later this year. Given the first poster has landed, we can expect more news shortly. Here’s that poster, more news as we get it…
