Ammonite heading to premium video on demand debut in the UK

You’ll be able to see Francis Lee’s acclaimed Ammonite – starring Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan – from the end of the month in the UK.

Director Francis Lee’s second film, Ammonite, debuted on the big screen at the London Film Festival last year. As part of that, it got regional screenings around the UK, with many local cinemas picking it up. But that one night only showing seems to be the limit of the movie’s big screen outing.

Widely tipped for BAFTA and Oscar success, the film – which stars Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan in the lead roles – is the latest picture to bypass cinemas in favour of a premium video on demand release. Lionsgate has announced that we’ll be able to rent the movie from March 26th.

We’re guessing, although this hasn’t been confirmed, that it’ll apply the £13.99, 48-hour rental fee it recently applied to Barb And Star Go To Vista Del Mar.

We’ll find out the exact pricing closer to that end of the month release date. In the meantime, we’ll leave you with the latest poster for the movie…
