John McPhail is set to direct a musical take on the Lady Macbeth story, with a young adult slant – and Channing Tatum is producing.

When we first launched our print magazine, cunningly entitled Film Stories, the film we chose for our very first cover was Anna & The Apocalypse, a terrific blend of Christmas movie, comedy, horror and musical. Directed by John McPhail, it’s a film that’s finally been treated to a quality Blu-ray release too, and we can’t recommend it enough.

Now, we get the terrific news that someone has hired McPhail to direct another musical. And not before time.

That someone is Channing Tatum as it happens, who, along with Scooter Braun, is producing a musical with a youth adult leaning, based on the story of Lady Macbeth. The script for the project is being penned by S J Inwards, and Amazon is backing the film.

There’s no word yet on casting, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on this one. For now, please do give Anna & The Apocalypse a whirl if you’ve not had the pleasure. It’s a film that’s ideal for now, not just for Christmas…
