Disney has pulled the Artemis Fowl movie release from its cinema schedules, and plans to debut the book adaptation on Disney+ instead.

Here’s some disappointing news. We’ve been looking forward for some time to Kenneth Branagh’s screen adaptation of Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl. The film is long shot, and was originally set for release last year, before Disney moved it to a May 2020 release.

That, though, is clearly no longer going to happen, and the studio – perhaps understandably – has now opted against another big delay for the film, and it’ll instead premiere the movie on its Disney+ streaming service.

The film, which stars Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Colin Farrell, Josh Gad and Dame Judi Dench, will arrive on the service later this year. No release date has been confirmed as of yet, but when we have it, we’ll let you know.

It’ll mark the biggest movie debut to date on Disney+. Here’s a trailer to remind you of what lies ahead…

More as we hear it.
