Aubrey Plaza vows to destroy Jason Statham (on film)

Ahead of filming the new Guy Ritchie thriller Five Eyes, Aubrey Plaza has promised to destroy The Statham, and make him “like it” too.

One of the many gifts of the multi-talented Aubrey Plaza is her ability to perfectly sit atop the line between comedy and seriousness; her deadpan expressions are the stuff of legend and have graced some truly excellent work, including the fabulous Ingrid Goes West. So naturally when the actor, who is set to star opposite action legend Jason Statham in Guy Ritchie’s upcoming thriller Five Eyes, vows to ‘destroy’ her co-star (as reported by WSJ), you have to wonder just how much she’s joking… or if she’s even joking at all.

The film itself sounds brilliantly nuts, with The Statham’s character, an MI6 agent who goes by the rather brilliant name of Orson Fortune, being paired up with a CIA tech expert (most likely Plaza, although this is as yet unconfirmed) to stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology that could presumably end all life as we know it. As for Plaza, she is clearly relishing the opportunity to co-star with Statham and ahead of filming, has laid down the gauntlet in no uncertain terms, boldly stating:

“I cannot wait to shoot this movie. I hope that it will allow me to be a bada** CIA agent with the ultimate bada**. There’s no one more bada** than Statham – and I’m coming for Statham. He better watch out. Because I’m going to destroy him, and he’s going to like it.”

We’re certainly looking forward to seeing how this contest of wills turns out.

Other casting includes Cary Elwes and Bugzy alone who last worked with Ritchie in The Gentlemen. Filming is just getting underway now, more news on the project as we hear it.
