Alex Pettyfer directs and stars in Back Roads, that’s now available in the UK – trailer and more details to be found right here.

After spending many years in front of the year, notably breaking through as a young actor in films such as Stormbreaker and I Am Number Four, Alex Pettyfer has now made his directorial debut.

It’s a film by the name of Back Roads, penned by Tawni O’Dell and Adrian Lyne. Lyne was at one stage set to helm the project before Pettyfer took it on, and he also takes the lead role in the ensemble. Also in that ensemble are Jennifer Morrison, Juliette Lewis and Nicola Peltz.

The film is now available via digital download in the UK, and a trailer for it is here….

The synopsis meanwhile reads as follows…

After his mother (a gritty Juliette Lewis) goes to jail for shooting and killing his abusive father, Harley Altmyer (Alex Pettyfer) is left to care for his three younger sisters in a rural Pennsylvania town. The uneducated Harley works two dead-end jobs to preserve what’s left of his family, including the rebellious, sexual 16-year- old Amber (Nicola Peltz). Angered and traumatized by his painful past, Harley finally begins to feel hope when he connects with an older, married woman (Jennifer Morrison), and they embark on an affair. When shocking family secrets emerge, Harley’s life begins to spiral downward, leading to a devastating conclusion that impacts the entire community.

The film is distributed by Studio Soho in the UK, and is available now.
