1991’s firefighting drama Backdraft is set to give 4K home cinema set-ups in the UK a workout from the end of May.

Here’s a surprise turn-up on the 4K release list. It’s been nearly two years since the 1991 film Backdraft was released on the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format over in the US, and we’d pretty much given up hope of it making it to the UK. However, Universal has now added the movie to its schedule over here, for release at the end of May.

It looks like it’s the US release version we’re getting, understandably, and it’ll come with an additional Blu-ray too that’ll carry over the extras from earlier versions of the film.

The movie itself stars Kurt Russell, William Baldwin, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Donald Sutherland and Robert De Niro. Ron Howard directed the movie.

The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray version is available to preorder now, and is set for release on May 31st. You can find more details and preorder a copy right here.
