There are at least two more Transformers films on the way – and it turns out that one of them is a Beast Wars movie.

Earlier this week came the news that Paramount Pictures was, unsurprisingly, pressing ahead with further Transformers films. Whilst the most recent – Bumblebee – was hardly the most lucrative (grossing just shy of $500m worldwide), it was certainly the most warmly received in a long time. Now, the studio has hired Joby Harold (King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword) and James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) to pen two new movies, independently of one another.

As it turns out, further news has now dropped that the project Vanderbilt is scribing is going to be a Beast Wars movie, taking influence therefore from the much-loved 1990s animated series.

That’s pretty much the level of detail that’s available at the moment. It’s been known for a while that the studio is looking to move on and away from the Michael Bay-style of Transformers film going forward, and we look forward to details of directors with interest.

More as we hear it.
