Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are set for another on-screen team-up following their collaboration on last year’s historical drama, The Last Duel.

Following the meteoric 1990s success of their onscreen debut, Good Will Hunting (which they also co-wrote of course), Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have appeared together in films a handful of times. However, most of those appearances have been in Kevin Smith movies and frequently, one or the other, or even both of them have just made quick cameos. That all changed last year when the two actors appeared in Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel, which they also co-wrote. Now, it seems that we’ll be seeing the duo rekindle their onscreen partnership once more with reports stating that they are set to make an as-yet-untitled Nike movie together.

Affleck will direct the film, originally titled Air Jordan, which featured on last year’s Hollywood Black List as one of the best screenplays yet to be produced. According to Deadlinethe film “will tell the incredible story of how Sonny Vaccaro (Damon), a maverick sneaker salesman, led a fledgling running shoe company called Nike in its pursuit of the most transformative athlete in the history of sports: Michael Jordan.

Ben Affleck will portray Nike co-founder Phil Knight in the story surrounding Nike’s longshot effort to sign Jordan to its shoe company in the mid-’80s, an endorsement that seemed impossible at the time, but which would become the most significant relationship between an athletic brand and an athlete and launched the global, multibillion-dollar contemporary sneaker industry”.

Affleck will direct the film and both he and Damon will produce. Amazon Studios, Skydance Sports and Mandalay Pictures are backing the film. We’ll let you know more on this one as we hear it but it certainly sounds like one to watch.
