Ben Affleck is set to direct King Leopold’s Ghost – and more details are right here.

Following the muted response to his most recent directorial outing, Live By Night, Ben Affleck hasn’t stepped behind the camera for a little while. At one stage of course he was set to direct The Batman, but things changed, and Matt Reeves is now pressing ahead with that project.

However, Affleck has decided on his next film to direct now, and the Academy Award-winning helmer is going to tackle King Leopold’s Ghost.

It’s a film based on the book by Adam Hochschild, with Farhad Safinia adapting it for the screen. The book’s synopsis reads “a riveting and highly readable account of the Congo massacre, peopled by callous monarchs, corrupt adventurers and a handful of genuine heroes”.

Affleck is also juggling directing duties on another upcoming project, about a cop who allegedly rigged the McDonald’s Monopoly game, to the tune of $24m.

More news on both projects as we hear it.
