Ben Affleck will join Michael Keaton in returning to the role of Batman in the upcoming movie of The Flash.

It looks like Ben Affleck, the one-time Batman of the DC Extended Universe isn’t quite done with the cape and the cowl just yet.

Vanity Fair is reporting (via Dark Horizons) that Andy Muschietti, director of the planned superhero jaunt, Flashpoint, has confirmed that Affleck will be playing Batman once more in his upcoming film. This of course, is in addition to Michael Keaton’s inclusion in the same film where he is expected to play a different iteration of Gotham’s Dark Knight.

The nature of the Flashpoint story upon which the film is widely expected to be based, means that both versions of the Batman character will appear from their own respective ‘realities’.

As Fruschietti puts it: ‘This movie is a bit of a hinge in the sense that it presents a story that implies a unified universe where all the cinematic iterations that we’ve seen before are valid.’ The director also goes on to state that Affleck’s role is definitely more than just a cameo.

It’s an interesting proposition, and one that might just be strange enough to work.

With the upcoming release of Zak Synder’s Justice League on the horizon too, it seems that Affleck will be making a couple more appearances yet as the Caped Crusader. More news as we have it.
