Bill & Ted Face The Music will be cinema-only in the UK, it seems

Warner Bros won’t be taking the premium video on demand path with Bill & Ted 3 in the UK – at least not yet.

In a sign of some slowly growing confidence in the UK cinema industry, Warner Bros has altered its decision to send Bill & Ted Face The Music to premium video on demand on the same day as its cinema release.

Whilst we understand the US plan remains unchanged, in the UK the film will now head into cinemas on September 23rd as opposed to the end of August. Furthermore, the home release has no fixed date. It’s worth noting that Warner Bros UK didn’t announce a PVOD for the film over here, but it did ink in an August release. That’s now been slightly pushed back, presumably to give it some breathing space in what’s looking suddenly like a more crowded cinema calendar.

Warner Bros UK has staggered a release before this year. It opted to hold back the premium video on demand release of Scoob! for instance. That film landed in the US in May, yet the UK release didn’t follow until July.

We’ve put in a request to Warner Bros UK to confirm the release plans for Bill & Ted Face The Music in the UK, but the release date change is definite at least. When we get confirmation regarding PVOD plans, we’ll let you know. But it’s worth noting that Odeon has started advertising the UK release of the film as ‘only in cinemas’.

More as we hear it.
