Director Cathy Yan confirms some early conversations took place about Birds Of Prey 2, and another return for Harley Quinn.

Whilst the box office returns for this year’s Birds Of Prey movie were below expectations, the film was also one of the more modestly-costed DC superhero films to make. And it’s clear there remains a lot of time for Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn, too.

Director Cathy Yan has been chatting about the film as it heads towards home formats, and she’s confirmed that conversations were taking place about where the sequel would go. “I would love to see Poison Ivy and I would certainly love to see the relationship between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy”, she confirmed.

The film offers too the opportunity to follow the Birds Of Prey of the movie’s title as opposed to just Harley alone in a new adventure. Whether Warner Bros will pursue a follow-up remains to be seen, but as Yan points out when quizzed about its chances, “I think people aren’t ready to let go of Harley Quinn quite yet and you know, Margot I don’t think is ready to let go of Harley Quinn yet either, so… hopefully”.

And here’s our own chat with Yan, from around the time of the movie’s theatrical release.
