A new take on the classic Noel Coward comedy is coming, and here’s the trailer for Blithe Spirit – it’s now arriving next year.

It’s been brought to the screen before, but that doesn’t stop the new take on Noel Coward’s Blithe Spirit being a project to not put on your radar. Quite the opposite, in fact, given how much fun this one all looks.

The new film is directed by Edward Hall, and features Dan Stevens, Leslie Mann, Isla Fisher, Adil Ray and Dame Judi Dench, amongst its terrific ensemble. And the first full trailer for the new movie – along with an official synopsis – has now landed. The film has also got a new release date too. It had originally been intended to hit cinemas on May 1st, but matters took that opportunity away. Instead, the film has now been sold by StudioCanal to Sky Cinema, who will debut it in cinemas and on Sky Cinema from January 15th 2021.

Here’s the trailer that was released at the end of February 2020 to give a taste as to what’s in store – the synopsis is the other side of it…

And here’s the synopsis…

Best-selling crime novelist Charles (Dan Stevens) is struggling with catastrophic writer’s block and a stressful deadline for his first screenplay. His picture-perfect second wife Ruth (Isla Fisher) is doing her best to keep him focussed in the hope of fulfilling her dream of heading to Hollywood. Charles’ desperate search for inspiration leads him to invite Madame Arcati (Judi Dench), a medium recently exposed as a fraud, to perform a séance in their home. They all get more than they bargained for when Arcati accidentally summons the spirit of his deceased first wife: the fiery and jealous Elvira (Leslie Mann) who embarks on a mission to kill Charles so she can spend eternity with him which leads to an increasingly comical and deadly love triangle.
