Plans are afoot still for another Bohemian Rhapsody movie, but it sounds like there’s still quite a way to go: more here.

Around the time of the first film’s release, there were already chats going on about a Bohemian Rhapsody 2. The original movie, that explored the life of Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury, would gross nearly a billion dollars worldwide at the box office, and bag a few Oscars as well.

But sequel chatter went quiet for a while, and it was more and more assumed that the first movie would be standalone. Not necessarily so though, if a new Instagram Live chat with Queen’s Brian May is anything to go by. He’s confirmed that they continue to explore ideas for a second movie. “We are looking at it”, he admits. “We have been looking at ideas”.

Admitting that the gigantic success of the first film was a real surprise, May added that “we put a lot of heart and soul into making it and no one could have predicted [its success] as it was bigger than Gone With The Wind. But yes, we are thinking maybe it could happen, but it would have to be a great script. It’s going to take a while to figure that out.”

No idea beyond that which way the film would go, who would be writing it this time and who would step into the director’s chair. Merely, at this stage, that they want it to happen.

We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
