The story of Whitney Houston is set to be the subject of a new biopic, that’s been giving the support of the late music star’s estate.

The life story of the late singer and actor Whitney Houston has been told a couple of times in cinema in recent years, thanks to a pair of documentary features. But now, a movie biopic is being planned.

Anthony McCarten, who has penned films such as Bohemian Rhapsody and The Theory Of Everything, as well as the upcoming biopic of the Bee Gees, has been hired for the project. He’s going to write the script for the film I Wanna Dance With Somebody and will also be one of the producers of the picture.

On directing duties for the film will be Stella Meghie (The Photograph), and as this will be an official biopic, it will also be allowed to dig into Houston’s songbook for the movie.

It’s going to be challenge and a half to find someone to play Houston on the big screen, but presumably the search is now underway.

No word yet on timescales for this one, but as we hear more, we’ll let you know.
