Eli Roth is set to direct a Borderlands movie.

Joining the queue of videogames being picked up for a movie adaptation is the Borderlands series, the action-packed open world franchise set on a desert-like planet. The games have become increasingly successful, and the rights to the film version have been secured by Lionsgate and Picturestart.

It sounds like the project is moving quite quickly, too. It’s already been revealed that Chernobyl’s Craig Mazin is writing the screenplay for the movie, and we now learn too that Eli Roth (of Hostel and Death Wish fame) is to direct the movie.

It’s being overseen by producers Avi Arad and Ari Arad, who have cunningly entitled their company Arad Productions.

There’s no word yet when to expect the movie, nor details on when it’s shooting. Likewise, we don’t know who’s going to be in it, either. We just know that it’s happening, and it sounds like there’s some momentum behind it. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
