Five John Hughes films are being brought together in a new Blu-ray boxset – and two of them are making their debut on the format.

The five films that the much-missed John Hughes made during his few years worked at Paramount Pictures are all being gathered together into a new Blu-ray collection, we’ve learned. What’s more, two of them are making their debut on the format.

The films in question feature three that Hughes directed himself, and a pair that he wrote and produced whilst handing the directorial controls over to frequent collaborator Howard Deutch.

The ones he directed himself are some of his absolute best: Planes, Train & Automobiles, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and She’s Having A Baby. Meanwhile, Deutch would helm Pretty In Pink and Some Kind Of Wonderful. Neither She’s Having A Baby nor Pretty In Pink has been available on Blu-ray before.

The five disc set arrives on March 8th. What we don’t know as of yet is whether there’s much in the way of fresh extra features with any of the discs, but we’re certainly not expecting any.
