Captain Marvel star Brie Larson has officially joined another franchise with almost as many movies – the Fast & Furious saga.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Captain Marvel has officially joined the Fast & Furious franchise, with news emerging over the weekend via Vin Diesel’s social media that none other than Brie Larson will be appearing in the series’ tenth instalment. Larson will join other new addition Jason Momoa, although we aren’t sure yet if she’ll be further swelling the ranks of the bad guys like the Aquaman star (who will also be joined by the returning Charlize Theron as Cypher).

Either way, Larson is a welcome addition to Fast & Furious 10, a sentiment echoed by Diesel who, let’s face it doesn’t need much of an invitation to break out any mention of the word ‘family’. True to form, when heralding Larson’s involvement on Instagram, he didn’t disappoint:

“What you don’t see however, is the character you will be introduced to in Fast 10. You have no idea how timeless and amazing she will be in our mythology. Beyond her beauty, her intellect… her Oscar, haha is this profound soul who will add something you might not have expected but yearned for. Welcome to the FAMILY Brie.”

One person who of course, won’t be returning is Dwayne Johnson. Unless the former pro-wrestling superstar is planning to pull the kind of theatrical swerve that is commonplace in ‘sports entertainment’, Johnson’s feud with Diesel has pretty much put paid to him making a final bow in the mainline franchise. We’ll bring you more on Fast & Furious 10 as we hear it, with the film currently slated for a May 2023 release.
