It’s been announced that Bruce Willis is to retire from acting, in a statement release by his family.

As you’ve probably already heard, one of the biggest movie stars of his generation – Bruce Willis – is stepping away from acting. He’s been diagnosed with brain disorder aphasia, news that was broken in a statement from his family.

It reads:

To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.

This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.

As Bruce always says, “Live it up” and together we plan to do just that.

The statement came from his daughters, his wife, and his ex-wife. Hopefully that’s as strong a support network as it sounds.

We’ve not got much to add to that, and fully appreciate that the news is very well known. But one positive that’s come from such tricky and unwelcome news is the sheer appreciation for Willis’ movies, and the outpouring of love for them. So we just want to carry that on here. Head to the comments if you wish and share yours. We’ll obviously bag Die Hard first though.

Sending the very best to Willis and his family.
