Altitude announces new film Butcher’s Crossing, starring Nicolas Cage.

Altitude has announced they will produce and finance Butcher’s Crossing, an epic frontier adventure from writer/director Gabe Polsky (Red Army) starring Academy Award-Winning acting legend Nicolas Cage (Mandy).

Altitude are handling international sales and will introduce the project to buyers at the Cannes Virtual Market, 21-25 June.  Alongside this, Altitude has also secured the film for UK and Irish distribution.

Butcher’s Crossing sees a young Harvard dropout seek his destiny out West by tying his fate to a team of buffalo hunters led by Miller (Cage). Together, they embark on a harrowing journey risking life and sanity.

“This is an urgent story with timeless themes – a gut wrenching journey exploring the limits of human nature.” Explained Polsky, “Nick Cage is one of the most dynamic and interesting performers and to have him take on this brilliant role will be exciting.”

The film is based on the novel of the same name by John Williams which explores man’s relationship with the natural world and details a largely untold but significant chapter in American history. The book has been adapted for the screen by Polsky and Liam Satre-Meloy.

Shooting will commence in October 2021 in America. It comes on the heels of a number of exciting future projects for Cage, including Pig and The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent which will see him playing a version of himself.

A great period for Cage-heads lies ahead!
