Tom Hardy is playing Al Capone in the new film from director Josh Trank – and the first trailer has landed.

Introducing the first film from director Josh Trank since he helmed the infamous 2015 movie Fantastic Four. It’s easy to overlook just what a startlingly good debut Trank made with Chronicle, a film made much more on his own terms. And his latest movie is one over which he’s had control and final cut.

It’s called Capone, having previously gone by the name Fonzo, and the movie stars Tom Hardy in the title role. It follows him as Al Capone, nearly a decade into his prison sentence, with dementia setting in.

Also in the cast for the movie are Linda Cardellini, Matt Dillon and Kyle MacLachlan. And the first trailer for the film has been released. Here’s what it looks like…

The movie is getting a digital release in the US this May, with Trank still hoping for a small theatrical release once cinemas reopen. We don’t have word yet on when to expect the movie in the UK, but we’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
