Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan are to star in She Said as the journalists who broke the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan are in negotiations with Universal Pictures to star in the upcoming adaptation of She Said. The book is a New York Times bestseller, going by the full name of She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement written by by Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey, the journalists who broke the story on Harvey Weinstein’s historical abuses and sexual misconduct. Mulligan and Kazan are set to portray the two women.

Though the film will look at the Weinstein case, it will look at the methods used by the reporters in their investigations and focus on reporting procedures rather than the expose itself.

The book was optioned by Annapurna Pictures and Plan B productions in 2018 and will be directed by Unorthodox director Maria Schrader.

This is not the first time Kazan and Mulligan have worked together, they starred on Broadway together in 2008 and Mulligan later starred Wildlife, which was co-written and produced by Kazan.

Production on the project is due to start this summer.
