The movie of Casper the friendly ghost is getting a double-disc anniversary physical media release in September – more details here.

At a point where physical disc releases have been looking under a little bit of threat, here’s a piece of bittersweet news. On the upside, the much-loved family movie Casper is to receive a special disc release. On the downside, it seems that Casper is now 25 years old, and thus I am old.

Less about me, more about the disc. Universal will be releasing a new Blu-ray of Casper on September 7th. A DVD version will be available too.

It’s set to be a double-disc set (remember those?!), and on the second of those discs will be two full length animated Casper films, as well as five original theatrical cartoons as well.

The disc set is available for preorder now, and it’s quite modestly priced too: Amazon for one has it for £8 on Blu-ray. You can find out more and preorder the film here.

We’ll leave you with the new box art…
