The cast has been announced for musical Greatest Days, featuring music from Take That – Aisling Bea and Jayde Adams are set to star.

Hit stage musical The Band is set to get a film adaptation. Like the stage show, Greatest Days will feature Take That’s music. The cast for the film has been announced, with BAFTA Television Craft Award-winner Aisling Bea attached to star. She won the award for Breakthrough Talent in 2020 after she appeared in Channel 4 sitcom This Way Up.

Also starring in the musical are Jayde Adams (from Serious Black Jumper and Alma’s Not Normal), Black Mirror's Alice Lowe, and Amaka Okafor, who appeared in The Responder. Also among the cast are Marc Wootton, Lara McDonnell, Jessie May Alonzo, and Nandi Hudson.

How To Build A Girl's Coky Giedroyc will be directing, with the script written by Tim Firth, who worked on the film adaptations of both Calendar Girls and Kinky Boots. Bron Releasing is handling the movie’s worldwide distribution.

Greatest Days follows the story of five best friends who have the night of their lives at a concert by their favourite boy band. They reunite 25 years later to reminisce about the past and discover their future.

The film will start shooting in April, in locations across London, Clitheroe, and Athens. It’s set to be released in cinemas in 2023, but doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet.

UPDATE: Filming is now underway, starting on Monday 4th April.
