The upcoming horror Black Phone stars Ethan Hawke and comes from director Scott Derrickson – here’s the first trailer for the film.

It’s been around a year since we learned that Scott Derrickson, director of Marvel’s Doctor Strange and the spooky Sinister, was teaming with Jason Blum of Blumhouse and Universal for Black Phone, an adaptation of the Joe Hill novella. With the film set to hit cinemas in February, we now have a trailer to feast our eyes on.

Black Phone is a story about a kidnapped child, whose only means of communication whilst trapped in a cellar is via a long-disconnected, antique telephone. The film stars Ethan Hawke as a serial killer and Mason Thames as the child who is kidnapped by him, but can communicate via the phone in order to escape.

Black Phone will mark Derrickson’s resumption of his partnership with Blumhouse, with whom he made the Sinister films. The director joined the project after leaving Marvel’s Doctor Strange sequel over creative differences.

Early reviews for the film have been good, so be sure to check out the trailer ahead of The Black Phone's release early next year.
