The new Garfield has been found, with Chris Pratt set to voice the cartoon feline in an upcoming animated movie.

Not content with taking on voicing duties in the new Super Mario Bros movie, Chris Pratt will also be lending his voice to the big screen reboot of Garfield.

Alcon Entertainment is backing a new animated take on the character, that absolutely won’t involve Bill Murray this time around.

Based on the feline who sprung to fame from the pen of Jim Davis, the new film will be directed by Mark Dindal, who made the hugely underrated Disney flick The Emperor’s New Groove. David Reynolds, of Finding Nemo vintage, will be writing the script.

There’s no release date for the movie as of yet, just that Double Negative (DNEG to its mates) will be handling the animation side of the flick. No word yet on the rest of the voice cast, nor a release date. More as we hear it.
