Young Woman And The Sea adds Christopher Eccleston to its cast, to join the already-on-board Daisy Ridley: more details here.

Quite a cast is coming together for a brand new movie that Disney is making for its streaming service. Young Woman And The Sea has already started filming, under the eye of director Joachim Ronning (Kon Tiki, the last Pirates Of The Caribbean movie).

Based on the book by Glenn Stout, the movie tells the story of the woman who became the first to swim the English channel back in 1926. Daisy Ridley will be taking on that role.

She’s also being joined by Christopher Eccleston, who’s the latest addition to the cast. Already on board as well are Tilda Cobham-Harvey and Stephen Graham.

Catch Me If You Can scribe Jeff Nathanson has penned the screenplay  for the movie.

Disney hasn’t announced a release date for the film, and it’s not expected to get any kind of theatrical outing at all. Instead, don’t be surprised if it pops up on Disney+ at the very end of the year, or perhaps more likely in 2023. We’ll keep you posted.
