Cinderella: new film coming from Blockers director

A new take on Cinderella is heading to the UK for filming in 2020.

2018’s hugely underappreciated comedy Blockers  – and do seek it out if you’ve not seen it yet – was remarkably the directorial debut of Kay Cannon. And we’ve been keen to see just what she’d turn her hand to next.

Turns out it’s a new big screen take on Cinderella, that she’s set to direct.

Backed by Sony Pictures, the new movie comes from an idea by James Corden, and Camila Cabello (pictured) is set to start in the movie.

Corden, Leo Pearlman and Jonathan Kadin are set to produce the film, and the movie – we now learn – is set to film in the UK next year. A February start date is planned.

Also in the cast are Idina Menzel, Billy Porter and Nicholas Galitzine. The film is understood to be a modern reimagining of the Cinderella story, but no further details have thus far been released. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
