Clive Barker’s Books Of Blood becoming a movie, more casting

Anna Friel is to headline the cast of the Books Of Blood movie, and more cast members has been added too.

Legendary British horror author Clive Barker has had a bit of a bumpy time with the movies. Whilst Hellraiser and Candyman came out really well, it’s little secret that Nightbreed was hacked to bits by the studio behind it before it was ultimately released. Thankfully, a more recent Blu-ray release has made the director’s cut widely available and in tact.

Hopefully, more good news lies ahead. Barker’s much-loved Books Of Blood are heading to the movies next, thanks to a deal that’s been inked with Hulu.

It’s also hired Star Trek veteran Brannon Braga to co-write the film with Adam Simon. Braga will also make his feature directorial debut with the project.

Anna Friel leads a cast that also includes Britt Robertson, Rafi Gavron and Yul Vasquez.

UPDATE: That cast now also features Andy McQueen, Freda Foh Shen and Nicholas Campbell, who have all joined the ensemble (as per Deadline).

It’s a move into original movies for Hulu, and the project has reportedly been in development for a few months now. It sounds like filming will begin soon.

No word yet on a release date, but we’ll keep you posted. At the moment, we just know that it’s expected to premiere in 2020.
