Benedict Cumberbatch it seems will be playing yet another Sorcerer Supreme, in an upcoming project for Studiocanal.

Having just finished up directing duties on the forthcoming Jurassic World: Dominion, director Colin Trevorrow will next be taking on War Magician, a World War II-era fantasy drama based on the book by David Fisher.

Benedict Cumberbatch, who you may have previously seen portraying a sorcerer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Strange, is set to star.

The synopsis? Well, the film ‘based on the wild story of Jasper Maskelyne, a British illusionist who used magic to defeat Erwin Rommel in World War II. Trevorrow’s take features an international “magic gang” from Africa, Europe and the Middle East who conspired with Maskelyne and a female military intelligence officer to defeat the Nazis.’

Richard Cordiner and Gary Whitta wrote earlier versions of the script. The current version is being penned by E Nicholas Mariani.

With Studiocanal’s involvement and Trevorrow’s production company being based in the UK, there’s every chance that this will be a British-shot film but that has yet to be confirmed. We’ll bring you more news on this one as we hear it.
