The Night Of The Hunter leads a trio of new UK releases for The Criterion Collection in June 2021: more details here.

Three more films join the growing The Criterion Collection range of premium Blu-ray releases this June, with the UK range adding a trio of new titles.

On June 14th first of all, there’s the pre-Code favourite from Dorothy Arzner (who we talked about here), Merrily We Go To Hell. The 1932 movie has been fully restored, and the disc comes with a new video essay and a 1983 documentary too. You can find more details and pre-order this one here.

On the same date, 1998’s Flowers Of Shanghai from director Hou Hsiao-hsien is released too. Again, a brand new restoration is the start of the package, as well as a new documentary on the making of the film, interview excerpts, an introduction from critic Tony Rayns and more. More on that here.

Finally, on June 28th comes The Night Of The Hunter from Charles Laughton, the only movie he ever directed. The 1990 film comes with a remaster, a full commentary track and new documentary too. That, and archive interviews and videos as well. You can find the disc here.

All of these are up for preorder now.
