Disney pressing ahead with live action Peter Pan movie

Filming is set to begin on Disney’s live action Peter Pan movie imminently.

Disney is rampaging forward where its live action collection of fairy tale and animated movie remakes is concerned. Next in cinemas is Mulan, but heading into production later this year is Peter Pan And Wendy, a live action take on – yep – the Peter Pan story.

This comes less than a decade after Warner Bros tried a similar trick with Joe Wright’s Pan, although Disney is targeting its Disney+ streaming service rather than a theatrical release.

The movie is set to film in Canada shortly, and promisingly, it’s being directed by David Lowery, who helmed the impressive new take on Pete’s Dragon for Disney a year or two back (around the same time he made the superb A Ghost Story).

At a push, the film may arrive on Disney+ at Christmas, although no release date has thus far been announced. More as we hear it.
