Dogtanian & The Three Muskehounds is becoming a movie

Remember the TV series Dogtanian? A feature film version is on the way.

For those of us of a certain age, children’s television was long-running serial animated television series. This included the peerless The Mysterious Cities Of Gold, the mighty Willy Fogg, sci-fi adventure Ulysses 31 and one of the ones that really started it all off, Dogtanian & The Three Muskehounds.

Here’s the theme tune just to get you in the mood for the rest of the story, given that you’ve read the headline and roughly know which way this is going…

Anyway: yes indeedy. The material – initially The Three Musketeers of course – is now being turned into a big screen feature. Work has begun at animation studio Cosmos-Maya, and Universal Pictures has already picked up the UK rights to the film.

The plan will be to release it as a premium video on demand title.

Doug Langdale is writing the screenplay for the new movie, whilst Toni Garcia is directing. More as we hear it. And here’s hoping they keep the tune in tact…
