The Dragon’s Lair videogames are set to become a Netflix movie starring the Deadpool actor.

It’s perhaps inevitable that Dragon’s Lair should ultimately make its way to the movies. The videogame has always been terrific to look at, incredibly cinematic, and an utter sod to play. It seems, in this writer’s humble opinion, a far better idea to remove any forced interaction moments, and just let it play out as a production.

Good on Ryan Reynolds for clearly hearing these words and doing something about it, such is our far-reaching influence. Netflix has picked up the rights to the game, whose key selling point was terrific Don Bluth animation. And now the streaming giant has picked up the rights to the game, and has lured Reynolds to the lead role of Dirk the Daring.

Reynolds is also one of the many producers on the project, Don Bluth included too. And Dan Hageman and Kevin Hageman – who worked on The LEGO Movie and more recently Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark – have been hired to pen the screenplay.

The new project will be live action, and we’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
