Filming on the second Dune movie is set to get underway in the summer of 2022 it’s been revealed.

It’s little secret that even before Dune: Part One – as we must surely now call it – arrived in cinemas these past few weeks, director Denis Villeneuve had done plenty of preparatory work for the hoped for second movie. The story’s also well known that Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros were hedging their bets, and hadn’t greenlit the second chapter until they’d assessed whether the first was going to a success.

Well, it has been, and they now have. Villeneuve and his team are now launching into the making of the next film with a lot of work already done, and it’s now been revealed that filming on Chapter Two will get underway on July 18th 2022.

This gives them all some 15 months to make, edit and lock the picture, which already has an announced release in October 2023. All of the key cast are set to return, and the new movie will pick up, we’d imagine, pretty much from the point the last one ended.

More as we hear it…
