The new big screen take on Dungeons & Dragons, from the directors of Game Night, recruits Chris Pine to its party.

The new attempt to bring the classic role playing game Dungeons & Dragons to the big screen has taken a big step forward with the news that Chris Pine s to take on a lead role in the movie.

Pine, known for Star Trek and the incoming Wonder Woman 1984 of course, is the first person to be cast in the picture to our knowledge. The movie itself is being directed by Game Night’s Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. The pair have also written the latest draft of the film’s script.

Can’t tell you what the movie will be about as of yet, short of it’s likely to involve both a dungeon and a dragon. It’s being put together by Hasbro (which owns Entertainment One) and Paramount Pictures, with eOne having distribution rights here in the UK.

As we hear more, we’ll let you know.
